The Week That Was

Saturday: 0.67hr. treadmill run (zone 2)
Sunday: 3.0hr. stationary trainer ride (zone 2)

During Saturday's run tendons on outside of shins let me know that they've tightened up. This morning, lower back muscles let me know in the wake of Sunday that they've lost some endurance.

Figure I'll survive Florida 70.3, but mostly looking forward to training for fall marathon with stretch time goal.

Y Oh Why?

With Earth Day 2008 passed, perhaps I can get away with commenting that
"Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" can be taken too far

The Week That Was Naught

"Naught", not "not", not "knot".

Many zeroes - not aught naught.

Simply no training - naughtiness, not knottiness.

Should train more - ought not naught.

The Week That Was

Saturday: 1.75hr. treadmill run (zone 2)

Get up and go got up and went.

I've had no pressing goal for Florida 70.3, and it seems my interest level in training for the event is cratering (whereas Jenny has to talk herself into rest days). On the plus side, I'm pretty much as keen as ever on going to DisneyWorld!

The Week That Was

Wednesday: 0.67hr. run (zone 2)
Saturday: 0.5hr. run (zone 2)
Sunday: 1.0hr. run (zone 2)
Officially a recovery week... not that my *training* has justified it....

In other news, perhaps you should be alarmed if there's a bustle in your hedgerow. Poor hedgehog.

BTW, the GCM->JFK flight on Thursday wasn't the only one cancelled by Cayman Airways.

Live From Miami

Not as exciting an airport as the ones my sister documented (London here and London, Dubai, and Perth here).

Cayman Airways has only three jets just now, instead of the regular four. Today's scheduled direct GCM->JFK flight was the first casualty.

What this means to me: leave office 2 hours earlier, fly into Miami (clear customs, re-check bag, clear security again), wait in Miami (4:30 connection time), and should arrive 2:40 later than originally scheduled. As matters are unfolding now, my MIA->JFK flight has an additional 45 minute delay. Phooey.

What this means to you: gratuitous post.

The Week That Was

Monday: zero
Tuesday: zero
Wednesday: 2.0hr. run (zone 2)
Thursday: zero
Friday: zero
Saturday: 3.0hr. stationary trainer ride (zone 2)
Sunday: 1.25hr. stationary trainer ride (zone 2)

Yes, that's a lot of zeroes.

DHL Duathlon

Cayman Islands Triathlon Assocation (www.tricayman.com) staged the annual DHL duathlon on Sunday March 30th.

The event proceeded safely, with strong participation: 54 individuals, 21 teams of 2 people, and 5 teams of 3 people. By all reports, including local press coverage, it was a great success.

My role for this was organizing the race day volunteers (i.e. those not on the organizing committee or with DHL), and then covering whatever priority assignment that was so far unfilled. I sent myself out on the bicycle course as a marshall.

A very big "thank you" goes out to the race day volunteers. They're essential; there's no way to get this done without them. Their excellent work made for a great day for the participants.

Thanks also to DHL for much support!

One nifty element; in the era of the web and digital cameras our shutterbugs put up over 400 pix from the event hanging off the "Photo Gallery" link on CITA's webpage. There's even one of me.
