Plug

Tonight is the first of three in the local "Stroke & Stride" series, always a fun event. This year we're happy to have Ogier as sponsor, and to encourage some fundraising for Cayman Hospice Care and the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.

I'll be doing my bit coordinating the road marshals.

Instant Wii Play

In part on the remote chance that forthcoming guests Jenny or my sister are interested in head-to-head Wii gaming while here, I paid the on-island price (rather than waiting until I travel and bringing a Wii Play kit back).

Mainly though it was 'cause I'm all about the instant gratification.

Packaging

Jenny has blogged a bit about our rendezvous in Tampa and associated adventures, so I feel even less impetus than usual to compose posts about that.

Jenny brought with her a Nintendo Wii that I had ordered and had delivered to her address. Today, back on Grand Cayman, I unpacked it (and went on to lose at solitary Wii tennis on skill level 0).

The Wii packaging struck me as particularly good. It put me in mind of the story of how Michael Dell established Dell Computer in part on the strength of packaging PCs to meet FedEx's requirements for relatively inexpensive quick delivery.

Open the box to find two inner boxes, one with a finger hole to aid in sliding out:

Lay out those two inner boxes; they are trays:

Here's the first tray unpacked; the white segment was beneath the CD-ROM game and manuals, and contained another piece of gear (the sensor bar, on the far left of the photo):

Here's the second tray unpacked:

So there: significant preparation for the September 16th release of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The Wii version is getting good reviews.

Interesting to see the pre-emptive approach to doping issues.
