Did an 18 mile treadmill run (1.0% incline) this morning. Heart rate stayed solidly in zone 2 throughout, so minimal drift. Took me a couple of minutes less than 3 hours; I'm slow but steady enough. Took in only water and salt tabs, so legs feel quite depleted.
Next week I have scheduled a recovery week, then my maximum volume and duration week (ending with a 20 mile treadmill run on which I *will* take in calories). From there I'll taper.
I have a long weekend trip to NYC in a little more than two-and-a-half weeks. That should be a good opportunity to try some of the gear for the Antarctica Marathon - and to buy a last bit of the gear too!

You are a person of greater mental fortitude than I; I feel hot just THINKING about it!
GAITERS!
Wow, and I thought 16 miles was a lot on a treadmill! Way to get it done. Glad to hear you'll have a chance to test your gear before the big day.
Training on a treadmill in the Grand Caymans for the Antarctica Marathon - You are tough and definitely taking the long way around to this race.
So let me get this straight -
You live in the Cayman Islands and you have found a treadmill on which to run?
HAVE YOU GONE MAD?????
Damn dude...18 miles on a treadmill? You know they make an outdoors, right?
18mile dreadmill session... boy - hope there was some TV on!!
Still - good mental prep I'm sure! Sounds like the training is going well :o)
I may be one of the few that understands why you choose the dreadmill!
Dreadmill? yuck..well at least you're "doing it". Good for you!!
Brent,
I would rather run in the cold than on a dreadmill...that's determinaition :)
