Island Report

January is my favourite time of the year 'round here.

The weather is generally as good as it gets (e.g. overnight low last night was 68F with clear skies; today's high is set for 79F with sun and some puffy white clouds).

There's a lull in the tourist traffic as of the Monday after New Year's - so everything's open, but running below capacity.

Sunday is the annual Stride Against Cancer. For me it will be a nice supported training run - I should tack on 3 miles to make a total of 16.

Monday is a public holiday - National Heroes Day. Our business will be open, but it's nice to have it going on around us. The holiday was first held in 2003, and is now "the largest national celebration of heritage and culture in the Cayman Islands". The official annual themes are wonderful acknowledgements of diverse contributions.

I know that this post is link light. I'll Linklater - Slacker that I am.

When I lived in the DR, January was always exquisite. While I am a snow bunny at heart, having near perfect temps was not something to be scoffed at!
