Hatch Battening
Current forecast is that Hurricane Dean will hit Grand Cayman at Category 4 strength around 3am on Sunday night/early Monday morning. My best wishes to all who will be riding this out on-island.
You can follow along at the US National Hurricane Center
To allay any concerns about my physical safety, please be aware that I will be waiting out the storm in an extremely secure location.
On the plus side, I should have enough time before then to complete another long ride and perhaps do something of a brick.
Even with satellite connections, blogging may not resume until we're no longer under the weather.

That's it, shoehorn in some training! ;-)
Here's hoping that Dean will find a path that leaves people and property safe and sound in the many areas the storm is scheduled visit.
Hunker down well and fingers crossed up here for you!
Oh boyyy, be safe!!!!
Good to hear that you will be safe. Also a pleasure to hear that you have modified your training schedule to fit around Hurricane Dean.
Hunker. My favorite tropical phrase.
I'm sure you're safe, so enjoy the experience as best you can.
Yes, you be careful now, and make sure you have lots of good books to read! Good training in the meantime...
I feel for ya brother but 3 not that bad as you know. On Guam I went through two 3's in a month and a cat 5 super typhyon which was the most amazing use of Gods power I have ever witnessed.
Be careful and hopefully you can get in that last workout! Let us know when you're safe.
you can bike into the wind before the eye passes, and be really optamistic knowing the wind will be at your back when the eye passes you!
Take care, I hope you and your associated habitat weather the storm well.
Hope Dean does not impact things too much on your little piece of paradise. Good luck!
Be safe man. I will keep watching the news and hope it somehow avoids your island.
Keep us posted if you can.
Good to know you'll be in a secure location. Let us know you're OK once the storm passes.
Glad to hear you've got somewhere safe to hole up... Thinking about you!!
